Given its projected cost and characteristics, there is a huge range of potential applications for the Dearman Engine technology.
As a reciprocating (piston) engine technology, it can be used for a few kWs (small engines) up to a few MWs (static generators/larger ships).
Early applications are likely to be at smaller scale, where there are ‘here now’ zero or low emission industrial requirements and the duty cycle allows for more frequent re-fuelling than traditional IC engine solutions.
Example applications could include materials handling (forklifts) and certain classes of static and underground mining equipment as well as inland waterways, etc – all are multi-billion $ markets.
